Gmail (Personal Email)
Connect your own Gmail account and the emails you write to partners in Journeybee go out from your address, through Google, rather than from the shared company address or Journeybee's default sender. Partners see a message from you, and their replies land in your Gmail inbox.
This is the personal side of the Gmail integration. An admin sets up the shared company address first (see Gmail (Company Email)), and after that each teammate can add their own mailbox.
Where to find it: Go to Settings, then Integrations. The Gmail card sits under the Email section.
Who can use this: Team members with a non-admin role, once an admin has connected the company Gmail address. Admins clicking the Gmail card open the company connection instead.
Before you start
An admin must have connected the company Gmail address already. Until then the Gmail card does not appear for you.
Have the Google account you want to send from ready to sign in. It has to be your own mailbox: Journeybee sends with the account you sign in as, and never from an alias, a shared mailbox or a delegated account.
Journeybee only asks Google for permission to send mail and to read the address of the account you connected. It cannot read, search or delete anything in your mailbox.
Connecting your mailbox
Go to Settings, then Integrations.
Click the Gmail card. You are sent to Google.
Sign in with your own Google account and approve the request. If Google shows a warning screen, approve to continue: the permissions requested are send-only.
You come back to the Integrations page. Your mailbox is now available as a sender the next time you compose an email.
Your personal connection is yours alone. It does not change the company address, nobody else can send as you, and you cannot send as a colleague.
Sending from your mailbox
Open a partner and click Compose Email. The From dropdown lists the senders available to you:
Your Gmail: your own connected mailbox. It is preselected whenever it is connected, because it is usually what you want.
Company Gmail (or Company Outlook): the shared address an admin connected.
Journeybee: the built-in sender, always available.
You choose the sender every time you compose, so you are never locked in. See Emailing Partners for the full compose flow.
What changes once connected
Emails are delivered by Google from your address, so they carry your domain's reputation rather than Journeybee's. The sender name shown is your company name, with your email address.
Sent mail appears in your Gmail Sent folder, and replies go to your Gmail inbox, not into Journeybee.
Journeybee still records every send in the partner's Emails tab, with a Gmail badge showing which service delivered it.
Your Gmail signature is not added. Journeybee sends exactly what you wrote in the composer, so add a sign-off to the message or a template if you want one.
Google's own sending limits apply to your account. Compose is for one-to-one and small group emails: campaigns and notifications always use the company address or Journeybee's sender, never your personal mailbox.
Disconnecting and reconnecting
To disconnect, remove Journeybee's access from your Google Account: open your Google Account, go to Security, then Third-party apps & services, and remove Journeybee. The next time Journeybee tries to use the mailbox it will find access revoked, drop it from the From dropdown and send that message via Journeybee instead.
To reconnect, click the Gmail card under Settings, then Integrations, and sign in again. Your previous connection is replaced.
Disconnecting never deletes anything. Emails you already sent stay in the partner's Emails tab.
If an admin removes the company Gmail integration, every teammate's personal Gmail connection is removed with it.
Troubleshooting
I cannot see the Gmail card. Personal connections only become available after an admin has connected the company Gmail address. Ask an admin to set it up first.
I am an admin and the card opens the company settings. Admins manage the company connection from the card. Personal mailboxes are connected by non-admin team members.
I approved at Google but nothing changed. The sign-in may have timed out (you have ten minutes to complete it) or been cancelled. Click the card and try again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
Your Gmail is missing from the From dropdown. Only working connections are listed. Google revokes access when your password changes, when you remove the app from your account, or when the token expires. Reconnect from the Gmail card.
An email went out from Journeybee instead of my Gmail. If your mailbox stops working at the moment of sending, Journeybee sends via its built-in service so the message still goes out. It never falls back to the company address on your behalf. Reconnect your mailbox and the next send comes from you again.
A partner replied and I cannot see it in Journeybee. Replies arrive in your Gmail inbox, not in Journeybee.
Good to know
The company connection and your personal connection are separate. Reconnecting yours never touches the shared address.
Journeybee cannot read your mail. The only permissions requested are to send a message and to see which address it is sending from.
Prefer Microsoft? See Outlook (Personal Email), which works the same way.
For the shared company address, see Gmail (Company Email). For the other tools you can connect, see Integrations.
