Products
Products are the items you sell. Your product catalogue is the foundation of the CPQ system — products can be added directly to leads and deals, and they are the building blocks of pricing calculators.
Where to find it: In the main navigation, click CPQ, then open the Products view. Click Add Product to create one. This requires the Products module to be enabled.
Creating a product
Each product is set up across two tabs: Details and Pricing.
Details
Name: The product name.
Description: An optional description of the product.
SKU: An optional stock-keeping unit or product code.
Availability: Leads, deals and calculators (the default) lets the product be added anywhere. Calculators only keeps it out of every lead and deal product picker, so it can only reach a lead or deal through a calculator quote.
Pricing
Price: The product price.
Currency: The currency for the price.
Billing Type: One-time for a single charge, or Recurring for a repeating charge.
Billing Period: Shown when Billing Type is Recurring. Choose Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly.
Status: Live (available to use), Draft (not yet in use), or Archived (retired and no longer available for new quotes).
Using products
Once a product is Live, you can use it in two ways:
Directly on a lead or deal: Add products straight to a lead or deal without building a calculator. This is the quickest way to attach what a customer is buying, and it is open to any product whose Availability is Leads, deals and calculators.
In a pricing calculator: Add products to a calculator to build an interactive quoting tool with rules, conditions, and a live preview. See the Building Pricing Calculators article.
Calculators-only products
Set Availability to Calculators only for products that should always be priced through a calculator, such as tiered plans or bundles whose price depends on the inputs. A calculators-only product:
Does not appear in the product picker on a lead or deal, in your app, in the partner portal or through the API, and is rejected if someone tries to add it by hand.
Still appears in the calculators you add it to, and on every quote those calculators generate. When a quote is copied from a lead onto a deal, its calculators-only products come with it.
Stays visible in the Products view and in each calculator's Products tab, so you can keep managing it.
Good to know
All products in a single pricing calculator must use the same currency, so a calculator's currency is effectively set by the products in it.
Only Live products are available for new quotes. Set a product to Draft or Archived to take it out of circulation.
Archiving a product keeps it on any quotes it is already part of, but stops it being added to new ones.
Switching a product to Calculators only does not remove it from leads or deals it is already on; it only stops new manual additions.
